We Think You'll Like It Here....
“The way it was is the way it is” in Downieville. Considered the least changed of all the Gold Rush towns in California, Downieville is located at the forks of the Yuba and Downie Rivers. At an elevation of 2,950 feet, it is a picturesque and historic Gold Rush town. A wealth of history is available wherever you turn.
Visit the historic gallows, wander the shops, sip some fine wine, taste some mighty craft brews, dine overlooking the rivers, or just relax with a fishing pole. May through October is the peak season in Downieville. Off season the town enjoys a slower pace and a phone call is recommended to see what amenities are available. No matter what time of the year you choose to visit, you will find Downieville to be a charming spot with a relaxed atmosphere that has been described as “stepping back in time”.
